Cardshop is a digital collectable platform that enables buying and selling digital packs of NFT and trading cards. As the product and design lead, I was brought on to research, concept, design and help deliver the MVP experience for the native iOS app.
Challenge
Through our research, we found that many collectors were looking for an easy and convent way to purchase and manage their collections. The offline experience involves a thrill of opening a new pack of cards. However it has major barriers when trying to execute purchases and receive packs. Additionally, receiving cards in the physical world made it very difficult to sell unwanted cards.
Solution
Using this information, we focused on bringing the excitement of opening new packs of collectables into the digital world. We concentrated on building an on-demand product that retains the excitement of opening packs of cards. The digital platform also allowes users to create instant liquidity by selling less desirable collectables.
To execute our vision, we focused on creating a clean and minimalistic design that would make it easy for users to find and open new packs. After opening a pack we offered easy way to save or sell collectables in their collection. Throughout the design process, I worked closely with the development team to ensure that the app was not only visually appealing, but also performant and user-friendly.
The beta product has been well received by early users and investors with many praising the excitement of opening packs and the showcase of user’s collections. At this point, the founders decided on a pivot from trading cardboard to pooling and opening packs of Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs). This pivot from card stock to collecting NFTs creates a new paradigm and platform for creators, collectors and investors in unique digital assets.
Overall, the collaboration between the product design, development teams and Founders has led to a successful mobile app build that allows the business to present the product experience to investors at this early stage.
